Horse trekking tour Mongolia : On this tour you will have the chance to experience the local family lifestyle, hiking, camel and horseback riding, climbing sand dunes, visiting temples and museums, capture a glimpse of a wild horse and visit the ancient Mongolian capital and its museum.
Mongolia is famous for horse trekking. Horse trekking is best in Central Mongolia. This is for 8 days trip. We usually do horse trekking to Eight lakes area. It’s called Khuisiin Naiman Nuur(Navel Eight Lakes). The area of Khusiin Naiman Nuur, ”Eight lakes”, formed behind the volcanic eruptions that occurred all along the centuries. The park is 2400 metres (1,5 mile) above the sea level. An area of 11.500 hectares has been protected as a National Park since 1992. Today, We will see the first lake, Khuis lake and we will spend the night in Khuis lake. (Approx. horse ride 30 km).

About Kharkhorin and Erdene Zuu : It was ancient capital city. Now it’s small vallige. The Mongolian ancient capital, Kharkhorin city, Genghis Khan’s fabled city, founded in 1220 in the Orkhon Valley, at the crossroads of the Silk Road. It was from there that the Mongol Empire was governed until Kubilai Khan moved it to Beijing. It served as the capital for 40 years. Following the move, and the subsequent collapse of the Mongolian empire, Karkhorin was abandoned. Whatever was left was used to help build the glorious Erdene Zuu monastery in the 16th century. Nearby, Turkish monuments and rock inscriptions erected in the 8-9th centuries in memory of outstanding fighters for independence.

Day 1
Kharkhorin and Erdene Zuu monastery
We’ll drive to Mongolian ancient capital, Kharkhorin, Chinggis Khaan’s fabled city, founded in 1220 in the Orkhon Valley, at the crossroads of the Silk Road. Day 2
Orkhon waterfall ( Orkhon valley )
We’ll drive to Orkhon Waterfall, The Orkhon valley in the history of central Asia. The grassland is still grazed by Mongolian nomadic pastoralists. Orkhon waterfall is one of the biggest waterfalls in Mongolia. This is a great place for taking photos, go hiking through the gorge. We will meet our horse herder family and get prepared for the Horse trekking trip to Khuisiin naiman Nuur.
Day 3
Horse Trekking to Khuisiin Naiman Nuur
We will start our Horse trekking trip to Khuisiin Naiman Nuur(Navel Eight Lakes). Day 4
Horse trekking to Shireet lake
Horse trekking to Shireet lake which is the biggest and most beautiful lake. On the way we will see the other lakes. Naiman Nuur. The area of Khuisiin Naiman Nuur (Eight Lakes), which was created by volcanic eruptions centuries ago and 3,163 metres above sea level Khuisiin Naiman Nuur (Navel Eight Lakes) is located at over 2,400 meter above sea level. Stay overnight in a tent. (Approx. horse ride 20 km)
Day 5
horse trekking to Buureg valley
We will Horse trekking back to Buureg valley. We will get to our tourist camp, take a shower and we will have real authentic Mongolian Barbecue made the traditional way and taste the favorite beverage of the nomads – airag, fermented mare’s milk.
Day 6
Tsenkher Hot spring
We’ll drive to Tsenkher hot spring. We’ll have a relaxed evening taking a hot bath in the natural hot spring water. Stay overnight in the Ger camp there.
Day 7
Elsen tasarkhai ( Khugnu Khan mountain)
We will drive to Elsen Tasarkhai sand dunes which are a semi-desert typed beautiful landscape with big sand dunes. We are going to have camels riding in here. After having dinner we can hike around the sand dunes. We can possibly see the sunset brilliantly in the area.
DAY 8
ULAANBAATAR
We will drive to Ulaanbaatar.
PLEASE NOTE:
The difference between a comfortable tour and budget tour relates primarily to the accommodation type. Within a budget tour all accommodation will be with a nomadic family in their Ger. While a comfortable tour includes accommodation at Ger camps which are similar to a 3-4 star hotel standard. Finally the Mid-Range tour mixes Comfortable and Budget, where you will stay some nights in the traditional Ger with a nomadic family and others in a Ger camp.
