From the first communication with Idre tours, we had immediate replies from Jigden, who provided answers and suggestions. We had a short amount of time and a lot of expectations…that were beautifully met!
The hostel in Ulaanbatar is comfortable and clean. The staggering is friendly and helpful.
The tour out into the country was well-planned and allowed us to see and interact with the people. We had our own vehicle, driver, guide/cook to help us better enjoy the cultural moments of staying in gers and eating a variety of Mongolian dishes.
A great trip. Highly recommend!

I wanted to thank you for organising a fantastic journey through Mongolia, the monasteries, townships, countryside, waterfalls and Gobi. Uli and I both had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute of our experience.
I would also like to put in writing that both our guide Ulzii and driver Bazous were outstanding in terms of the way they undertook their roles with professionalism, friendliness, good cheer and diligence. They filled us with confidence as we drove through the floods and mud or over the dry Gobi. They pampered us with great food and happy smiles and provided us with wonderful companionship and commentary about Mongolia – its culture, nature and people. We felt highly privileged to spend 11 terrific days with both of them and we would like you to pass on to both Ulzii and Bazous our sincere thanks and let them know about our very positive feedback. ( I have copied Ulzii into this email but I don’t have the email for Bazous until I return home).
Both Ulzii and Bazous are a credit to Idre Tours and Uli and I will certainly offer high recommendations for Idre tours to any of our friends and colleagues who might visit Mongolia.
Once again, thank you for a magnificent journey that showed us the magic of Mongolia.
with kind regards,
Mike and Uli
Very helpful and friendly staff and inspiring travellers!
I decided to write about this hostel because I think it is one of the best in the world.
It has BEST kitchen I have ever seen in a hostel, no kidding, actually I think it is not such an visible thing, the kitchen for a hostel, seriously how often do you think of a hostel by their kitchen? not too often do you, but I think this place’s kitchen was of a big appeal to me, like a kitchen in your house, we bought lots of dumplings and just treated ourselves. I did not encounter such a possibility of relaxation, cooking and eating anywhere else in Asia, I may sound like talking of minor things, but after a year of backpacking when you forgot what a rest is, what a home is, it does matter, those who have been in this situation will understand what I mean :))
So and it has 2 TV rooms, upstairs and downstairs, and it really feels more like a good hotel lobby, with a lot of interior, not just cold face of an official hostel, so it has helpful staff, the owner also organizes tours, and she is very helpful for information.
Price was also a big plus like 7$ for a dorm in winter time, I think it is about the same in summer.
Of course it has shower, free wifi, computer with internet also for fee too.
She also acted as a trip planner and set us up with excellent overnight camping and horseback riding trips, including the Gobi Desert. The driver’s were even wonderful too! Tsetsegee comes highly recommended for both her personal warmth and high degree of professionalism. Cheers, Eric
I stayed here for a few nights primarily to use them as a tour operator because I was going there out of season and in this respect I got a great service and definitely recommend them if you are planning a tour. I should add they are not pushy and didn’t give me the hard sell which is something I very much appreciate even though I had my mind made up before I spoke to them. You can also arrange transportation to and from the airport if you email them in advance. If I ever go back to UB I will definitely stay here again.
I had great time at Idre hostel in Ulaambaatar. I was second time of Idre hostel. All staff have a hospitality for me..
First off I would like to thank everyone at Idre’s for making my stay in Mongolia memorable. Everyone is friendly and nice who looks after your needs. The private room was really comfortable and warm during the cold season. They provide a simple breakfast of bread with butter and jam which I enjoyed much. Had an excellent tour as well with Mygaa (driver) & Bayanaa ( English speaking guide). These guys are awesome! really enjoyed their company. Credit to Jigden (hostel staff) for recommending my tour option, I was very happy with the choice of travelling to Central Mongolia. I liaised with Tsetsegee in terms of the room bookings, they also booked a train ticket for me ( as I was also heading to Beijing). They have high speed internet access as well, had no problems getting online. The location is good as well, since it’s close to the railway station. Overall, I loved my stay here and will definitely come back here again when travelling to Ulaanbaatar.
Absolutely wonderful hostel, had a real relaxed vibe. And the staff were great!
We booked a 19-days tour (June/July) to central and northern Mongolia at Idre. We had a fantastic time, driver and guide were super kind, food was very good and sleeping in familiy gers a great experience.
Our highlight was the five-days horse trek to the Tsaatan, the rendeer families in the North. It was absolutely unique, landscape and people amazing, and we will never forget this beautiful adventure (but also somewhat tiring for non-horse-riders)!
Finally, also if more expensive we recommend to take a guide as it allows you to get in contact with the Mongolian families and truly experience Mongolia. Also we would like to thank Tsetsegee, the owner of Idre, for organising our trip, she is most helpful!
Enjoy Mongolia! Daniela
Tsetsegee, the owner of the hostel, is very kind and helped me whereever needed. Also the staff is very friendly. I had to stay at Ulaan Bataar for a few days and felt really at home. Also for planning and organizing tours to the countryside I got all necessary information at Idre hostel.
We booked the trip via email with Jigden before arriving to Mongolia. He was very responsive and answered all our questions. Pick up at the airport was smooth and we stayed in the hostel the first night before starting our 8 day trip the next day.
